For Everyday Work
The Compass Lab enables students and instructors with technology. Stop by if you need to borrow a computer for the day, or if you don’t have one of the hundred dongles you need to use your Apple product.
Computers
The Compass Lab’s two desktop computers are 27” iMacs located in the studio space in Des Peres 216 and open for student and instructor use during Lab hours. These computers are compatible with all SLU ID’s and come pre-loaded with the full Adobe CC Suite and other Lab software.
Our 24” iMac desktop computer is located in our recording studio and is programmed to be used in conjunction with our Rodecaster Pro and other recording equipment.
Tablets
Our sixth-gen iPad Mini Pros are pre-loaded with note-taking and drawing apps like Goodnotes and Procreate for visual rhetoric projects.
Software & Services
Editing service for infographics, presentations, reports, etc.
Available on Lab computers.
Record, edit, and publish podcasts within a web browser. Great for recording remote interviews or distanced multi-person audio tracks. Students can take advantage of a 30-day free account or use the Lab’s professional account after consultation with the director.

Available for checkout for 24 hours for classroom or project use. These 2019 Macbook Airs are programmed to work with any SLU account and come pre-loaded with many of the apps the Lab uses for multi-modal composition.
